Who this policy covers
This policy describes how Desktop Accounting API handles personal information when you visit this website, contact us, or use our services. You can reach us through our contact page. For requests about your personal information, use our privacy-request form.
Information you provide
Contact and privacy-request forms collect your name, email address, and message. Support chat collects the information you share in the conversation. Account and service interactions may include contact details, account identifiers, company-file connection details, and information needed to process your API requests. Do not include passwords, API keys, or accounting records in a support message.
Connected accounting data
When a customer authorizes a QuickBooks company-file connection, the service processes the accounting data needed for the API operations requested by the application. The customer or application provider determines the purpose of that processing and is responsible for authorizing access. Contact the application provider about information it holds independently of Desktop Accounting API.
How we use information
We use information to provide the services, deliver requested API operations, respond to support and privacy requests, secure the website, investigate misuse, and meet legal obligations. Where European data-protection law applies, the basis depends on the activity: performance of a contract for service delivery, legitimate interests for support and security, compliance with legal obligations, and consent where required.
Service providers
Cloudflare hosts this website and handles network requests and security controls. Our self-hosted Chatwoot installation manages support conversations. MXroute provides the private email mailboxes used for support replies. These providers process information needed for their respective tasks. Information may also be disclosed when required by law or necessary to protect rights and security.
Support chat and browser storage
Support chat loads when you choose to open it. Chatwoot uses browser storage and cookies to maintain your conversation and recognize it when you return. You can clear them through your browser settings. The contact and privacy-request forms work without opening chat. We use self-hosted Rybbit for website usage and performance metrics, including pages visited, referrers, browser and device information. Query strings, form interactions, button capture, and session replay are disabled. The analytics script respects Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control browser settings. The website does not include advertising trackers.
Retention
We retain information according to the purpose for which it was collected, the needs of an active service or support relationship, security and dispute-resolution requirements, and applicable legal obligations. You can ask us to delete information through the privacy-request form. We explain any information that must be retained when responding to your request.
Security and international processing
We use HTTPS for website traffic and restrict support-system access. No service can guarantee absolute security. Our service providers may process information in different countries. Applicable data-protection requirements govern those transfers. You can request more information about the providers involved in processing your information.
Your privacy rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, export, or restrict processing of your personal information, and to object to certain processing. Where processing relies on consent, you can withdraw it. Submit a privacy request. We may need to verify your identity before disclosing or changing information. You may also complain to your local data-protection authority.
Children and policy changes
The services are intended for business users, not children. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us through the privacy-request form. We may update this policy to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. The effective date identifies the current version.
